Don't let go

This is an image from a little while ago (September 2012), shot on Kodak BW400CN (chromogenic - C-41 process B&W) with a old Practika that I acquired. It's interesting how, these days, shooting with a film camera somehow makes one less an object of attention - I think if I'd been using my D300, I would have been far less able to capture this shot.

Image is a bit grainy (unavoidable with C-41 process film at this speed - the only way to achieve higher speed is with larger film grain, if I've understood the technology correctly), and even though I dislike grain, I like this image for the fact that, well, I had the stones to photograph people at this close range without being terrified. And I do like the content of the image - it just appeals to me .

And for anyone wondering, yes, I was sitting down, and no, I didn't offer any of the women my seat. I've established my rules for giving up my seat on the train: I'll give it up for someone older than me, a pregnant woman, or someone who is infirm.

Edit: didn't realise until I saw the deviation "live" that it the verticals weren't vertical!!! Fixed now ...
