A thousand thoughts, a million worries

I saw this girl in the train as I got off my first train to change to a second. What caught my attention was her brightly-coloured hair, and then her deeply melancholy expression. I wanted to photograph both, sadly thinking that the chance was lost. As it turned out, we changed to the same train, and I was able to capture this image of her. It doesn't show her hair to advantage, which is a bit disappointing, but the expression is the same one that first drew my attention.

I experimented with all sorts of things to show the things that I saw in her, and finally settled on this - everything in monochrome except her hair and face. I quite like the result, although I think that this image will always make me a bit sad ...
